We recently closed our gallery of rare antique books and prints, original signed
      art and unique hand painted frames, some of the prints and art are framed, some
      not, and all our artwork and antique books and prints are now available to the public here.

This books is very rare, I could not find any other original volumes in the antique books on line, or in libraries, just reproduction books, this is an original copy from 1873. 

This was part of our collection of antique books and prints but we have moved to smaller quarters, do not have a library anymore and sadly decided to sell them now.

The author James De Mille (1833-1880) was born in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada and educated at Acadia College, Wolfville, NS and Brown University, Providence, Rhode Island. He taught and held the chair of classics at Acadia College and that of history and rhetoric at Dalhousie College in Halifax from 1865 until his death. 

He had a successful career as a prolific and popular novelist. He died in 1880, and his best known novel, "A Strange Manuscript Found in a Copper Cylinder," was published posthumously in 1888 

In addition to several other volumes, he wrote a series of books for boys, called The Young Dodge Club. This book is one in that series.
