Huge Folio size plate in excellent condition: Johann Michael Seligmann. Verzameling Van Uitlandscheen Zeldzaame Volgelen, Amsterdam: Jan Cristian Seep, 1772-1781. Folio. fine laid chain link paper, crown and shield watermark. Fine hand colored etched plate. After George Edwards and mark Catesby by Seligmann. Very rare subscribers page list just 90 copies accounted for and 5 of those to the publisher. Considered superior to the Nunremburg edition, with better hand coloring. A number of these bird plates depict flora and scenic backgrounds not contained in the originals The print is accompanied by a copy of the beautiful title page and a copy of the French descriptive text when available. This work is 250 years old and it is rare indeed to find these very scarce prints in such good condition.
This extremely rare hand colored etched plate has been professionally framed (In extremely time consuming HAND PAINTED FRAME SIGNED BY THE ARTIST AND DOUBLE ACID FREE MATS, one of them hand painted with intricate details by artist as well).
Great condition, superb colors, not faded.
Professionally matted with 2 acid free mats and framed professionally in a unique custom frame hand painted and signed by the artist AS WELL AS ONE OF THE MATS, created to enhance the antique print. We sold such older and hard to find prints from our art store, framed or not, now this is reduced greatly since we just closed the building and are liquidating what is left.
The print is an original!
This is a real bargain, and ready to go!
