FROM THE YEAR 1883
We recently closed our gallery of rare antique books and prints, some framed, some not, and all our artwork has been reduced as a result.
This rare antique print has been professionally framed in a unique detailed hand painted frame and matted with triple acid free mats, one of them hand painted with time consuming designs, French matting style. The frame has been hand painted with great detail by an artist and signed, it is one of a kind.
Excellent double plate in mint condition and original vivid coloring.
As any double plate, there is a fold in the middle, hardly noticeable once framed

This is an authentic antique print offering, an original, authentic, rare engraving

Aechmea Lalindei Linden & Rodigas
Aechmea mariae-reginae (Aechmea lalindei). Chromolithograph by Pieter de Pannemaeker from Jean Linden's l'Illustration Horticole, Brussels, 1883
Exquisite antique Botanical prints from L'Illustration Horticole, one of the great Belgian horticultural periodicals of the 1800s. Published from 1854 to 1896, L'Illustration Horticole featured a monthly review of noteworthy plants for the greenhouse and garden. Included were descriptions, illustrations, history and advice on cultivating the plants. In 1869 Jean Linden took over publication of the review (Linden is best known for his Iconography of Orchids).
These prints are particularly noteworthy for the richness of the coloring, resulting from the chromolithographic process used to produce them.
All of these chromolithograph Botanical prints were prepared by Pieter
de Pannemaeker, noted 19th century Belgium artist and lithographer.
“L'Illustration horticole : journal spécial des serres et des jardins, ou choix raisonné des plantes les plus intéressantes sous le rapport ornemental, comprenant leur histoire complete, leur description comparée, leur figure et leur culture.
It is becoming rarer and rarer to find antique prints especially in this amazing condition and of this quality.
NOT A REPRODUCTION
This is reduced since we just closed our art gallery and are liquidating what is left.
The print is a very rare original!
This is a real bargain, and ready to go!
It makes a great gift for collectors of rare prints.
