NOT A REPRODUCTION
The frame is vintage as we did not want to use a brand new frame around an antique plate.
Please inspect carefully to be satisfied as this is purposely not a brand new frame.
We try to locate antique or vintage frames for all our antique prints as they show much better that way, as the slightly distressed look is more fitting and eclectic looking.
From "Paris in its splendor. Monuments, views, historic scenes, descriptions and history", this is “Palais de l'institut” 1872-1900, Paris: Édition du Conseil Municipal, 1900.
Edition lithographs by Nantes.
Edited and published by H. Charpentier [ Paris : 1861 ].
Rare 1861 architectural antique outstanding original folio lithograph engraving from the XIX Century by Felix Benoist (1830-c.1905), “Palais de l'Institut”, 55 Quai des Augustines, from the rare “Paris dans sa Splendeur” which translates: “Paris in its Splendor”, “Paris en 1860” or “Paris in 1860”.
Printed on heavy paper, these beautiful full page and very large folios sepia tinted lithographs feature many of the most famous Parisian landmarks. These plates offer a delightful insight of 19th century Paris. Good condition but some scattered foxing, normal for a print this old.
From the Parisienne collection of some 100 beautiful lithographs from: Paris dans sa splendeur : monuments, vues, scenes historiques, descriptions et histoire : dessins et lithographies; vignettes de Félix Benoist et Catenacci, exécutées sur bois par les premiers graveurs; texte par Audiganne... [et al.], Paris : published by H. Charpentier, 1861-63.
Hoffbauer, F. (1839-1922),
Paris à travers les âges : aspects successifs des monuments et quartiers historiques de Paris depuis le XIIIe siècle jusqu'à nos jours / fidèlement restitués d'après les documents authentiques par m. F. Hoffbauer ; texte par mm. É. Fournier ... [et al.], Paris : Firmin-Didot et cie, 1875-82.
Vachon, Marius (1850-1928),
Double Matted with acid free mats and framed professionally. This is reduced to less than 1/2 since we just closed our art gallery and are liquidating what is left.
The print is an original!
This is a real bargain, and ready to go!
It makes a great gift for collectors of rare prints.
